The name Trichocereus has always caused me to giggle. It brings to the minds-eye a tricky dinosaur…I’ll let you illustrate your own color page on that one????
When this Cactus is harvested there is a this serious slime similar to aloe. When two pieces are rubbed together it creates reasonable amounts of frothy slime.
Parchment paper can be used to place frothy slime. Repeating this will create an accumulation. This accumulation is gardeners decision. I would air on the side of modesty. Remember The Giving Tree, do not deplete Your Friends.
Too much milking can and will divide the medicinal value of the end result.
I use a plug in dehydrater. Leave the skin on, take the time to remove the thorns by removing as little of the skin as plausible. Exactly-knife away any calluses or deep discoloration.
Cut 1/4 in slices, they make star shapes????
Core the middle, this fiberous middle can harm your esophagus and lining of your stomach in large doses. This core ONLY has value to you IF; you are chem lab ready with mighty fine straining capabilities.
Place frothy slime and cored Tricky Dinosaur into dehydration method.
Slime on parchment paper, stars laying flat with minor to larger gaps for circulation. This, will take HOURS and ALL DAY. Make the time or do this another time all together, mold happens to us all and not all mold is fun mold.
Every two hours-ish, flip stars and alternate trays. Dehydration can happen with inequality leaving one tray wetter and the other dryer.
Turn frothy slime gently. I use the dull end of a wooden scewer to kind of stir it around gently like beating an egg, so that the bottom becomes the top etc.
Put the lid on and wait around all day repeating this.
You will know the frothy slime is done when it becomes translucent light green. *in your initial milking, when you start getting dark green as your frothy slime, knock it off and go on to milk the next*
Your stars will be done right before the point where you begin to loose Chloraphil. Don’t deplete Your Friends.
There should be only slight bend or light pliability to your stars. They will finish “crisping” after laying them on egg crate or something of that nature. Keep the dried material out of UV or house hold light.
Once they dry crisp, I put mine in a paper bag dark dry place.
I will only speak to what I have crash tested on myself.
The translucent flake can be medicinally utilized by blending with cannabis in a joint. My observation is that it is absolutely relaxing. There are no entoptic images that will occur. It may grant vivid dreams. Ground up, it can also be used in tea; less is typically more. You can always add, but you can’t always take away.
The dried medicinal value of Tricky Dinosaur is less than that of Bridgesii and at least third to Lophophora Williamsii
