Description Ms Betty Davis along with actor John Garfield was the brain child behind the creation of the Hollywood Canteen during World War II. It was a place where a soldier could come and enjoy food and entertainment and dance and mingle with movie starlets. Ms Davis only had two stipulations, you got in free if you wore your uniform and the club had to be integrated.
