(For you trivia fans, Bonanza was on Sunday nights for years as the #1 show in the ratings. The Smothers Brothers on CBS was able to knock them off that perch…. Even more trivia (the shit that crowds my brain!),the show was in it’s first season was scheduled on Saturday nights at 7:30. Why? Because NBC in those years was owned by RCA which made color television sets. I kept thinking of the Broadway musical and the feature film, "The Producers ", where these two guys intentionally produce a terrible stage play in hopes it fails so they can capitalize on the investment money and tax write offs. However, the audience loved it. Visually "The Suicide Squad ", is amazing, but that's where it ends. James Gunn was probably going for campy style fun, but the script wasn't there.
